To summarise how it works; a light source which is non-laser, non-invasive and non-ionising, provides energy in the form of photons, which in turn gets absorbed by the cells. This boosts the cells into a photo-activated energetic state, but without heat, and without damaging them. If these cells were damaged or compromised, the LED-LLLT will promote their repair, and improve healing times. It also encourages the cells to multiply and function better.

For example, in the skin it stimulates fibroblasts to produce more collagen, elastin and ground substance to give the skin a healthier and youthful look (photo rejuvenation). Some wavelengths also relieve muscle and joint pain, and promote the general euphoric feeling. There is even anecdotal evidence of LED-LLLT therapy benefiting patients living with Parkinson’s disease.

The machine we use is Healite II, which is approved by the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration for LED-LLLT.

We offer the Healite II with the 630nm (red light) and the 830nm (near infrared light) wavelengths in our Miranda rooms only.

The 630nm light penetrates into the skin cells and sebaceous glands to rejuvenate the skin’s tone and texture by smoothing and evening out uneven pigmentation. It reduces fine lines and wrinkles, and may even help with hair regrowth.

The 830nm light penetrates deeper through the skin to the underlying tissue and bone. It accelerates tissue repair post-surgery, or post-injury, and reduce infection. It also Increases the “feel-good” endorphins in the body and is used to treat stress induced insomnia.
