What to Bring to The Appointment
- Your Referral
- Medicare details, Private Health Fund details and DVA details if applicable.
- Your completed Patient Information form if you have not already sent it back to us.
- Any pathology, radiology, previous surgery details that are relevant as well as current medication information and any other documentation or information that may be relevant.
A referral is required for all medical consultations. For some cosmetic consultations, a referral is not required, however it is preferred. Dr Safvat recommends that patients obtain a referral for their consultation from their GP in order to provide him with a thorough medical background, including previous surgical history and medications.
During the consultation, Dr Safvat will give you detailed information relevant to your needs and desired outcome. He will discuss the following (amongst other things):
- Options for treatment
- The procedure
- Any risks
- The expected outcome
- Recovery expectations
- An indication of whether your procedure is medically required – Medicare/Health Fund rebates may be available if the procedure is classified as medically required.
- Answer your questions
Following the appointment, you will be given a thorough estimate of fees for any potential procedure, including rebate estimates from Medicare and Private Health Funds (where applicable), so you know exactly what you are up for in terms of costs. There is absolutely no obligation to go ahead with any sort of procedure after having a consultation and receiving an estimate.
